Factory Five ’33 Ford Kits Begin Shipping

Besting our original January 2009 launch date, the guys here at Factory Five have begun building and shipping our new Hot Rod kit.  Functional testing is complete and prototype evaluation went better than expected.  Remaining production issues are relatively minor and last weekend we delivered two of the first four production kits.

Two Hot Rods get ready to be shipped in kit assembly (left) and Josh and Fred work to put the finishing touches on the kits. (right).

Long standing Factory Five customer Gary Cheney pestered us so much about not being selected as a beta builder that we put him on the schedule for one of the first production cars.

Gary Cheney (L) and FFR tech guy Brandon Wright get ready to load his kit.

Mike Everson, Jim Schenck, and Brandon Wright
discuss the assembly.

Factory Five customer and stand out builder Mike Everson lives close to our tech guy Brandon Wright and is building the car at home with Brandon’s help.  Mike showed up Saturday morning along with Cheney to pick up his car.

The third production Hot Rod was built and is awaiting shipping down south to FFR customer Bill Pierce who owns the Factory Five customer based internet discussion forum.  This car is being built by noted FFR customer Wayne Presley.

Mark Zion goes over the pack list.

Brandon and Mark help load the kit into Mike's trailer.

There are a few details remaining on these early kits as the spindles (same ones used on the Roadsters) are on order as are the Roadster windshields, engine side covers, hard top, removable fenders, and a few other parts affected by early production ramp up.  We anticipate close to zero back order status on this new kit by December 1, 2008 and feel strongly that this new Hot Rod is the best new product launch in the history of our company.
