Making a Hot Rod drive like a Supercar

The goal of making a modern Hot Rod handle like a well-balanced sports car required more than a well-designed and rigid frame.  On the shoulders of our revolutionary '33 frame, we placed a state of the art suspension, precise steering, competent brakes, and engineered the vehicle to have a lower center of gravity and excellent front/rear weight distribution.

Our engineering team developed an all-new front suspension design and joined it with the proven rear suspension from our Challenge Cars, Roadsters, and Coupes.  This new suspension configuration successfully delivers a combination of comfortable ride and superior performance.  The control arms are as beautifully crafted as they are cutting edge modern and the tough Koni brand shocks deliver excellent damping.

Front Suspension/Steering/Brakes

Up front, the Factory Five Hot Rod comes with a radical in-board coil-over configuration with unequal length upper and lower a-arms and high-end Koni brand mono-tube adjustable coil-over rod-end dampers.  A high quality Mavel rack and pinion manual steering rack is standard.  Factory Fives have earned recognition for their handling and ride quality, and the new hot rod suspension carries on that tradition. Our rugged front suspension delivers superior handling without the compromises of Mustang II style set-ups that are commonly used on hot-rods, replicas, and customs.

The hot rod is delivered with the entire front suspension, spindles, steering rack, brakes, and fasteners.  Stock front brakes are 2000 Ford Mustang GT with 11" rotors and aluminum two piston calipers.

Rear Suspension

The Hot Rod is delivered to you ready to accept bolt-on suspension components.  There are two (2) rear suspension configurations that can be used on the hot rod.  The standard suspension is a Ford Mustang 4-Link rear configuration.  An optional 3-Link performance suspension is available.

Let’s review each set-up to find out what’s best for you.

1)       Standard 4-link solid axle rear-end

2)       Optional 3-link solid axle rear-end

1.  Standard 4-link Suspension.  Solid Axle, Solid Performance, Solid Value.

The standard hot rod comes with 4-link suspension components including Koni Brand coil-over shocks, upper and lower control arms, and fasteners.  You will need to provide the rear end and brakes.

2.  Optional FFR 3-Link Rear Suspension, Pure Performance

The Factory Five 3-Link rear suspension is an option for the hot rod.  After more than seven years of racing action and thousands of hours of brutal track testing, the FFR 3-link is recognized as a proven and worthy upgrade to the standard Mustang 4-link.  The 3-link suspension package includes the frame brackets, panhard rod, control arms, coil-over shocks and aftermarket springs.
