Even in grade school, Greg Marsh knew that he had a problem.  He had issues with lust well before most kids his age knew what the word meant.  What Greg lusted over, however was the 427 SC Cobra.  He had stumbled across a magazine article on the car, and after reading (and rereading) the article several times, his love affair with the car was firmly embedded in his psyche.

Unfortunately, like most of us, Greg’s real life got in the way of his dreams.

First came college, then career moves followed by overseas employment, marriage and family.  In the blink of an eye many years had passed him by without his dream car showing up in his garage.

In 2001 he and his wife Debbie moved to Knoxville, TN, and something triggered his brain back into full throttle.  How it resurfaced, he wasn’t sure - it may have been where he was situated in life, his spacious (yet empty and lonely garage), or the beautiful roads in eastern Tennessee.  Regardless, he refocused his passions to the one and only car that he ever truly loved.

Although it took him several years to satisfactorily research the replica industry, when he placed his deposit on a Factory Five Mk3 in late-2004 he knew he had made the right decision.

He was not in a big hurry to build the car, and he wanted to be sure that the car fulfilled all of his criteria.  Remember, this is a guy who has been salivating over a car design for over 30 years – Greg knew exactly what he wanted!

Greg told us recently:

One very important aspect of the project was that I build the entire car myself.  All fabrication work required for the mechanical modifications was done at home with simple tools.  I performed the body enhancements, bodywork and paint prep at home as well.

Now that the car is completed, Deb and I love cruising the back roads and driving the car to cruise-ins and local shows.  It’s been the most rewarding experience and each day adds something new.

I love the reaction of other drivers, and you know what - this car makes people smile!
