Customer Profile – Mike Akens Bookcliff Auto Parts, Inc. Grand Junction, CO |
|
Mike Akens is a different kind of customer. He didn’t purchase a kit. He didn’t talk to a builder and work with them to get his car built. Instead, Mike won the car and could not be more excited about it. Mike has worked as a parts counter person for thirty-seven years now. Back in October 2005, he was named the National ASE-NAPA Parts specialist of the year. For Mike, the honor was enough of a surprise that he is still smiling. In fact, he said he thought that was the luckiest day of his life. That was until January 26th, 2006 when he found a surprise outside of his store. |

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of NAPA Filters, Whitby Mototcars built a FFR Type 65 Coupe to raffle off. In December ’05, the Coupe was on display at the NAPA Expo Convention in Las Vegas and Mike jokingly said to his wife, “I would look good in that car!” Then came the January morning when Mike was summoned outside to find the Coupe parked in front of his store. He was the lucky winner out of the 10,000 employees who had entered. Mike was absolutely speechless that he won.
The car and Mike made the local TV news as well as a large spread in the local paper. One of his employees, Lorenzo Soto, helped to create a beautiful picture of the car. For more information, click here to read the article about the NAPA Filters Coupe on Whitby’s website. |
