The Weavers register for a Factory Five

These two lovebirds only want one thing from their wedding guests

The future Mr. and Mrs. Weaver are very excited about their upcoming wedding.  They are just as excited, however, about the Factory Five roadster they plan to build together.  They are so excited, in fact, that the only thing that the couple registered for wedding gifts was a Factory Five 65 Roadster.

That’s right – they’re more interested in tread patterns than china patterns.  They’ll happily take a shift handle over flatware any day, and a windshield and a pair of wind wings are better than some clumsy stemware in their opinion.  Where most brides register for new sheets and tablecloths, Kristin wants a pair of upholstered seats and some pre-cut carpeting.

Peter Weaver met his fiancé Kristin last spring while sailing on a friend’s boat on Chesapeake Bay, near Washington D.C.  It took a few encounters before they made their first connection, but once they realized they had many of the same interests, their relationship took off like a Factory Five at a drag strip.

Such interests include sailing, tasty Cajun food, fast cars, and motorcycles.  They prefer riding on Peter’s Victory cycle to just about any other adventure, and most of their dates seemed to center around motorcycle adventures.

Peter didn’t push the idea of a Factory Five Roadster at first because Kristin thought the idea of “another convertible” was ridiculous.  But a surprise visit to Summit Point Raceway to see a Factory Five Challenge race led to Kristin taking some hot laps in a Challenge Car.  She was hooked on the spot!

Since then they’ve become engaged – at a gun shop no less (Kristin had always dreamed of Prince Charming riding in to sweep her off her feet and proposing with a pistol).  Kristin is happy to replace the horse for some serious horsepower in their Roadster (but she’s keeping the gun anyway).

Combining two households into one, they will already have two sets of almost every household item one might need.

When pressed by family and friends for wedding gift ideas, there was only one item they agreed should be on the list – a Factory Five Roadster.  Now they’ve “registered” for the 3000+ parts from the Mk3 kit, plus donor car parts, classroom hours at the Build School, and a few Sears Craftsman tools.  Although they haven’t yet figured out how to register for an engine hoist, it’s the one item they need which is not on the list.

Their wedding will take place this month in Peter’s hometown of New Orleans, right in the midst of Mardi Gras.  In their words, Mardi Gras was the perfect wedding timing for them, as they’re “loud, fast and sexy”.

They fit right in within the FFROG community, don’t they?
