The dream of owning a 65 Roadster is not exclusive to those stateside.  The 427 Cobra, after all, dominated tracks all over the world in the 60’s, so its influence was felt in many corners of the world.

Stephan Pohl felt the pull even in his formative years, and since his family owned a Ford dealership in northern Germany, the connection was natural.

The unfortunate part is that original Cobras are few and far between in Europe, and the replicas are usually inferior cars that look good on the outside but drive like tractors.

Excerpted from Stephan’s emails:

In 1996, I restored my first European BRM-Cobra 427, which I bought in England.  After I married my wife Silke and my daughter Emelie was born, in August 2002 I sold the car to spend more time with my family.

Only 3 years later, however, I couldn’t resist the urge to own a new cobra.  So I asked my family, and they gave me the green light.

This is where the story becomes similar to those we’ve heard over the last 11 years.

After I checked all vendors around the world, there was only one kit that could get me the most authentic look and the best frame on the market :  Factory Five Racing.

So I contacted them and ordered the Mk3-Kit in February 2005. During the time to the delivery-date in June 2005, I organized the import and transport and all the other parts I would need to build without a donor-car.

I got the kit here in Germany in June, I found that all the parts fit perfectly and a perfect build-support from FFR-Hotline-Team allowed me to me finish the build in only 10 months.

Now I’m registered and insured - that’s not an easy process and is a long bureaucratic journey.

There are many benefits to having a Factory Five land rocket in Germany, most notably the Autobahn and some of the most technical race tracks in the world.

To set-up the chassis and motor, I raced the Mk3 on the legendary “green hell” (Nürburgring) and I can tell you : This FFR-Cobra is a weapon !

The FFR drives really nice and the handling is awesome !!! I never drove a car with such a grip on the track.

Stephan enjoys the super-speedways of the German highway system as much as he likes pushing the car to it’s limits on Germany’s famed Nurburgring or one of Formula 1’s favorite Hockenheimring.  He regularly shares stories of racing and other adventures in his German Factory Five.

We have posted only a small portion of the images he has sent us over the last few years.
