At this year’s Nationals event at Virginia International Speedway, Lee Holman, the son of the late John Holman who was one of the co-founders of the famous Holman Moody organization, was the guest speaker at the awards dinner held Saturday night.

Holman Moody was the racing division of Ford Motor Company during the 1950’s and 60’s. They played a big role in the early years of NASCAR, revolutionizing the way that stock-cars are built and creating numerous safety features. Their NASCAR team employed such famous drivers as Fred Lorenzen, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Mario Andretti, and A.J. Foyt.

 
 

Holman Moody are also responsible for building the famous Le Mans-winning GT-40 Mark IIs as well as other Ford-powered racing cars, including Falcon rally cars, the Honker II Can-Am car, special road-racing Fairlanes and Falcons, plus A/FX Mustang dragracing cars.
 


Lee Holman grew up in the Holman Moody organization during the glory years and has a lot of knowledge as well as a ton of great stories to share with people about those days. Lee brought a couple of his special cars from the Holman Moody Collection to share with the crowds of people at VIR.
