Florida FFROG to drive Factory Five cross-country (and back) for charity

The Mason brothers to join the heartiest on the Route 66 Charity Drive

Kirk Mason has already broken in his Mark 2 roadster (FFR 3581) with 20,000 miles since first quarter 2003, but never in his wildest dreams did he think that he would be taking his pride and joy cross-country.

Sure, every car lover gets that gleam in their eye when the fabled Route 66 is mentioned.

As the song goes “won’t you…get hip to this timely tip: when you make that California trip.  Get your kicks, on Route 66!”

We don’t know anyone who hasn’t thought of making the Chicago to L.A. trip along this storied highway.  Every guy loves a good road trip, and the Route 66 trek would be the ultimate journey.

The concept of a combined 3000 mile (each way!!) cruise AND America’s automotive glory road – well that might be a wee bit more than most FFROGs would be willing to undertake.

Not Kirk Mason!

This is exactly the type of jaunt he and his brother Bob had always talked about.

When they first heard of the Route 66 Charity Drive, their hearts were racing on all eight cylinders.  This was exactly the type of jaunt for which Kirk had built his Factory Five, and he could think of no better vehicle to run this event in.

Go west young man

Their wives have been on board from the start, and have supported Bob and Kirk’s Big Adventure every step of the way, even helping them to create a roadtrip website.  This way, they reason, they can follow along and provide home-base support as their husbands cross the country – both ways.

Their wives’ only real fear is that the brothers don’t kill each other during this extended “bonding” experience.
