Factory Five and Transport Canada

Reach Final Agreement!

Work clears way for simple and clear Canadian kit sales

March 23, 2005

We are very pleased to report that Factory Five Racing and Transport Canada have reached an agreement finalizing an exact list of parts that are acceptable for sale into Canada and clearing the way for us to publish a simple and clear procedure to follow.  This agreement follows months of hard work and was accomplished in a long but productive meeting yesterday in Ottawa with officials at Transport Canada.

The results of the agreement are as follows…

  1. Canadian customers can now purchase FFR chassis kits according to a clear and unambiguous package configuration and procedure.  The parts available to purchase from FFR are listed clearly in the new and updated “Canadian Import Procedure”

  2. Canadian customers can bring their chassis kits and parts into the country thru any customs import station along the border (previously TC officials had required all FFR kits to cross at the Cornwall port and only on one day every month).

  3. Officials at TC now have a single engineering contact at FFR for any regulatory questions that may arise in the future to ensure rapid response and resolutions.

  4. This agreement affects the configuration of parts and options for the Mk3 Roadster.  We will be closing similar agreements on parts lists for the Coupe, Spyder GT and Challenge models shortly.

With a clear agreement from Transport Canada, our Canadian customers have an easy to follow procedure for importing FFR chassis kits.

The difference between the parts that are allowed in Canada and those that we sell to customers in the U.S. and in other countries, is that Canadian customers must purchase the front shocks in Canada and cannot buy the adaptor kit for the Ford Thunderbird IRS rear suspension.  Regulators required the deletion of parts related to the fuel system, brake system, and electrical system.  The updated “Canadian Import Procedure” includes an exact list of those deleted parts so that our Canadian customers can know exactly what they must acquire themselves in Canada.

Check out the new import procedure, order forms and pack lists.  If you have any questions, please call us directly at Factory Five at 508-291-3443.

Special thanks to the wonderful Canadian customers, builders, and all those who worked in such good faith with Transport Canada.  Your patience, honesty and professionalism helped us reach this final agreement.
