April 18th to commemorate Patriot’s Day

It’s an obscure holiday, celebrated only in Massachusetts and Maine, but it is an important one nonetheless.

On the evening of April 18th, 1775, General Thomas Gage, the British Commander in Chief of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was ordered to bring the colonies under control.

The plan was to destroy the Colonist’s war supplies in Concord, and to take Samuel Adams and John Hancock into custody, thereby crushing the uprising..

The word got out, however, and Henry Dawes and Paul Revere were sent out to warn the Patriots.  (imagine what they could have done had they been driving a Factory Five ?)

The militia held fast in this battle, setting the tone for the rest of the Revolutionary War.

Patriot’s Day was established to commemorate those that stood their ground in 1775.

Join us by thanking current and past veterans of all wars and celebrate Patriot’s Day with us on Monday, April 18th.
