427RF5 Performance Engine

The special FFR-Roush sledgehammer 427R produces a mind blowing 550 horsepower and 535 ft lbs of torque!  With the same displacement as the legendary cars of the 60’s the Roush 427R is based on the high-end Dart “Iron Eagle” 4-bolt main block.    

FFR owner Dave Smith runs the similar Roush 402R engine in his personal Type 65 Coupe, however the 427RF5 makes another 30 horsepower and more torque!  While this is certainly more engine than ANY street car ever needs… it really is perfect for the guy who likes to cut his butter with a chainsaw.

427RF5 Engine Features 
  1. Base Engine:  New Dart 4-bolt main iron block, 4340 forged crank, 4340 forged H-beam connecting rods with 3/8” high-strength bolts, forged cranckshaft and pistons.
  2. Cylinder Heads:  Roush Aluminum with premium stainless steel valves and springs.  2.08” intake and 1.60” exhaust valve sizes.
  3. Camshaft:  Hydraulic roller cam (Roush proprietary) with double roller timing chain & gear set.
  4. Valve Train:  1.6:1 roller rocker arms with dual valve springs mounted on 7/16” studs.
  5. Intake Manifold:  Single plane aluminum.
  6. Carburetor:  Roush “tuned” Holley 770 CFM with vacuum secondaries and electric choke.
  7. Air Cleaner:  14” chrome
  8. Valve Covers:  Polished aluminum covers engraved FACTORY FIVE Powered by Roush.
  9. Oil Pan and Pump:  8 quart powdercoated T-style, w/front sump pan and w/adjustable Melling oil pump w/heavy duty oil pump “drive” shaft.
  10. Water Pump:  New Ford production or equivalent w/standard rotation for v-belt applications under 6,000RPM.
  11. Fuel Pump:  Mechanical high performance pump w/ss braided lines from pump to carburetor w/fuel log.
  12. Flywheel:  SFI-Approved 157 tooth billet steel flywheel internally balanced & installed.

  14. Starter:  Super high-torque1.6kw with cable.
  15. Testing and Documentation:  Each engine is “hot-tested” and Dyno’d to confirm power.  Each engine is shipped with print-out results.
