| Factory Five
car takes overall win at NASA Valentines Day Enduro Spec Race |
|
| The 2002 NASA Virginia season opened
with a two hour and twenty minute endurance race at the challenging 3.3
mile Virginia International Raceway just outside of Danville
Virginia. Tow Factory Five Spec Racers took the green flag with
the number 9 Steve Marcus owned car being driven by Sunny Hobbs and the
number 66 spec racer driven by Harry Elam. Both cars ran strong
near the front of the field all morning and were in good position when
the time for driver changes came midway through the race. The
ensuing fuel stop saw Brian Dobyns taking over the number 9 car and Dan
Elam jumping in the number 66 car. Dobyns and the number 9 car
continued running down the front of the field, eventually taking the
overall lead. When the dust settled, Hobbs and Dobyns took the
overall win, lapping the entire field in the process. The number
66 car also finished strong and ended up second in class and in the top
ten overall. |
