| With a small threat of rain looming over us all week, Friday morning started off cool and clear. Race 3 and 4 of the Northern California Spec Series was exciting and fun filled. | |||

| Many of the racers showed up on Friday for "test and tune" to learn the counter clock wise track configuration. The testing day was fun and full of many exciting laps. Unfortunately, one of our cars was damaged during testing, which prevented it from being raced on Saturday and Sunday. | |||

Saturday morning the FFR Pit area was abuzz with chatter, wrenching, and
relaxing. Bob Evans paced while he waited to receive his brand new
FFR Spec Racer from Gordon Levy. Gordon had transporter trouble, which
required him to drive all night in order to deliver the car. Once his
car rolled in around 9:30am and was removed from the trailer, Bob was
like a kid in the candy store, wiping the car down and installing FFR
stickers and required items for race duty. Since the car was so new and
without testing, Bob decided it would be best to run in a HPDE group and
not push it by racing the car the first time he got to drive it. Saturday's practice and qualifying were without much incident. Mike Easton and Dave Borden bled his brakes to remove some air from his lines due to a leaking fitting. Dave kept checking to make sure the new radiator he installed the day before was leak free. Dave, Steve, Jimmy and Mike, gridded up with the American Iron, Camaro, Mustang Challenge Cars, American Stock Cars, and Race Trucks. The front running FFR's were about mid pack in qualifying with this very fast group of racers. There were 40 plus cars in the field with the FFR's gridded together at the rear. The Race was thrilling and not without event. Steve Sparklin had an off course excursion that damaged his side pipe and hanger. Steve, his wife, and friend worked together to fix the side pipe and damaged brake line, but was unable to finish the race. Special thanks to Dan Lawson for providing parts so desperately needed by Steve. Dave Borden won the race with, Jimmy, and Mike close behind. Sunday was a near carbon copy of Saturday with the FFR's gridded together. Except this time Steve made it the whole way to take 2nd. Again Dave Borden took the checker with Steve, Jimmy, and Mike taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The next race is scheduled for May 11th and 12th at Thunder Hill Raceway Park in Willows CA. We hope you can join us!! There's plans to have a large grid area, so FFR owners who come out and support the Series can park their Roadster in the pits, run the HPDE events, and hang with the FFR Spec Series folks. We hope to see you there! -Dave Borden |
