The First Factory Five Coupe

Who owns the first FFR Coupe?  Well, that depends on who you ask.  The real answer is two guys.  Longtime FFR builder and good friend Joe Gouveia bought and owns the first FFR Coupe prototype.  This race car was hand-built from computer drawings by the Factory Five engineering team, lead by Jesper Ingerslev.  The prototype was used in the first Car & Driver Magazine evaluation and is featured at below right (Blue #98).
The first production kit ever built was shipped to FFR customer Bill Hough of Hanover, MA.  Both Bill and Joe can lay claim to owning the first FFR Coupe, however Bill’s was the first actual production kit to be shipped.

Bill decided to build FFR1001CP #26 into an exact reproduction of the Coupe driven by Allen Mann’s Team in 1965 at Monza and Spa.

Painstaking attention to detail went into this daily driver, however, Bill says that despite this, he affords the car “absolutely no special care” and he flogs it mercilessly on the mean streets of Boston and the surrounding New England area.

The color is guardsman blue with period correct decals and numbering.  Just like the original car, Bill is running a 289 small block carbureted with 15” PS engineering wheels and IRS rear suspension.
Plenty of time was spent replicating even the smallest details like the original small air ducts, side exhaust hangars and the rear race decals.  Bill drives this car and uses it everyday.  Bill is an avid pilot and has his own composites design business.

Send an email to Bill with questions about his car.

Rare to see any of these driving on the streets...Check out the Mass Inspection sticker on the windshield!
