FFR Type 65 Coupe Design |
|
Similar to our Roadster, the Coupe has a steel chassis with aluminum panels and a composite body shell. Although the frame is similar in design (base 4" round tube design) to the roadster, it has been modified to a longer 95" wheelbase and incorporates a full roll cage. Over the steel tube frame we use all aluminum chassis panels to form the engine bay, cockpit and trunk sections. Like our Roadster, the Coupe uses a non-stressed fiberglass body mounted to the tubular steel frame and aluminum. The body is a two part assembly that consists of a forward hinged nose and a rear cockpit and tail section. The laminate is a high quality vinylester resin based composite with a 1/8" thickness. The suspension is all top shelf components. The front includes upper tubular A-arms with coil-over shocks. The standard rear suspension uses the Mustang four link solid axle suspension, with the three-link and FFR Independent Rear Suspension available. Like the Roadster, the Coupe is based on a "one donor" philosophy. The kit also includes additional parts which are optional on the Roadster. These include an aluminum radiator, steering shaft components, and gauges. The Coupe is set-up to use the Ford 289, 302, or 351 Windsor engines. Options that are available for the Coupe kit include; a narrow or wide IRS, powder coating, A/C, wipers, fuel cell, race rollbar diagonal, 17" Pin drive wheels (for 5 lug only, will work on stock solid axle), leather interior kit. You can source your own wheels or buy one of two available sets. We sell the original style Pin Drive wheels for $2,450 for the set of four with adapters and spinners. The bolt-on 17" 5-lug Halibrand replica wheel sells for $1,840 for the set of four.
