"The
Mistress" Wins 3rd Place National SCCA Autocross |
|
|
| September 9-12, Topeka, Kansas: FFR
customer and all-around great guy Dave Borden drove his FFR1046K to a
dramatic third place finish in the 2003 SCCA National Autocross Competition.
Dave and Mary Borden are the original owners of this car which
was delivered (set the way back machine) in 1996!
The “Mistress” as the car has become known on the internet
forums, is one of the most driven cars in FFR lore. |

| This is one of those many FFR stories that is
really hard to believe. The
car has 35,000 STREET driving miles on it.
The old Mk I daily driver has also been to over 40 track,
rally, and show events. "The
Mistress" has won Run and Gun Championships and numerous regional
SCCA autocrosses.
Dave Borden won first place in the 2002 FFR-NASA
Challenge series in an FFR Spec car.
After winning the Challenge series Nationals at Sonoma (Infineon
Raceway), he decided to see what the old “Mistress” could muster in
an autocross. |

| In 2000, Dave’s wife Mary raced the Mistress to
first place in the Nor Cal region SCCA autocross. In order to prepare the car for a serious national effort,
Dave added power with a larger supercharger, modified the stock four
link suspension (adding a new FFR IRS).
Dave also added a backbone similar to the FFR MkII chassis tubes. |

Big congrats to Dave for showing everyone that an
FFR roadster can hang with and beat the best race cars on the planet.
Dave and Mary will be joined by a three car team in their efforts
to win the 2004 SCCA title.
In addition to winning on the track, anyone who knows
the Bordens will tell you they embody the true spirit of our sport.
Better folks you won’t meet.
When they’re not out on the track or at a car show, the Bordens
can be found helping folks with their car builds on-line at www.ffrog.com. Dave and Mary recently joined other FFR customers and racers
in the remarkable 25 hour endurance race held this past December 5-7 at
Thuderhill raceway.

remarkable car, check out Dave’s NorCal
FFROG website. |
