Wareham, MA - Under bright blue June skies came almost 40 FFR cars and almost 500
people to celebrate the third annual Factory Five Racing Open House event held this year
on June 10th.
This event is held once a year for owners in the NE
region to come together and enjoy the early summer weather as well as and the fellowship
of race and street car enthusiasts. In addition to the standard food, tent, car show and
plant tours, this year FFR made it a fundraising event to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation.
In order to raise money for CF, the crew at Factory Five auctioned
off all their spare parts, returns and scrap car parts. Along with the FFR parts,
customers also donated items for the silent auction.
FFR customers Gilbert "Gilly" Jesus, Hank
Dondero, Joe Gouviea, and others contributed various items including a Ford
Motorsports intake, speed parts, shirts and novelties. Over $4,000 was raised at the
silent auction and all of it went directly to the CF Foundation!
Almost 500 people came to this years open house, which was
about 300 more than we expected. Because of this we completely bought out the local 7/11
corner store of 48 cases of soda and water!
The big news of the day was the chance for many
folks to get a close up look at the new Coupe which was parked in the center of more than
40 snakes.
The day was perfect, although temperatures made it
into the mid 80s and shade became a valuable commodity.
Things got off to a start at 9:00 am and by 10:30AM a line of FFR
snakes rumbled in all at once from up north. The New Hampshire/Maine/Vermont contingent of
12 FFR cars had driven from more than three hours away, caravan style, to arrive in style! |
