FFR-Huntington Beach Cruise-In highlights successful Knotts Show
Western FFROGs descend upon the annual west coast Replica Show and celebrate at Huntington Beach Cruise-In |
|
|
We took advantage of the Knotts Show to unveil three big new players in the Factory Five fleet: - the 5-day build GTM (it was a smash hit, and drew more of a crowd than anything at the show) - the new Factory Five Show Truck & Trailer (we recently purchased one of Ford Performance Parts’ show truck, and that allowed us to do this show the way we had always wanted) (we brought out our own pit bike, and raffled off another to a Factory Five customer in attendance at the Knotts Show) |

|
Factory Five customers from all over California (as well as Arizona, Nevada and Utah) brought their cars to the annual west coast Replica Show, and in the process, overtook the show field.
By the time we had tallied 85 FFROGs on our side of the show, we realized that nearly 50% of the entire field were Factory Five owned. Included in the FFROG corral was Dick Smith’s new ride, a Mark III Factory Five. The legendary 6-time USRRC champion wanted something a bit more driveable than his 198 mph version. |

It’s no coincidence, that Factory Five owners brought home a bunch of the show awards -including Best in Show Overall (for Russ Thompson’s unbelievable Type 65 Coupe). In addition to the Replica Show, Factory Five hosted the 1st-Annual Huntington Beach Cruise-In as a way to celebrate a long day spent on the Knotts blacktop. |

Factory Five customers chose the best of the FFROG field (which could have easily been the best of the entire show field). The best of the best are:
Best Use of Chrome – Richard Cadogan Most Innovative Improvement – Paul Scott Best Paint – Jay Sutherland Best Engine – Rick Potter Best Interior/Details – Robert Durrer Best in Show Roadster – Curtis Tung Best in Show Challenge –Langley K. Best in Show Coupe – Manny Furcone Best in Show Overall – Russ Thompson
Also awarded were: High Mileage Award – Steve Moriarty Long Distance Award – Walt Oftenkamp (for the person who drove their car the longest to get to the show) |
|
| The winner of the raffled pit bike (supplied by Bill Peirce and TGB) was none other than the Best Paint award winner, Jay Sutherland. | |
