MoochFest 2005 Report
3rd
Annual Event Records Largest Attendance Yet |
| |
|
 |
|
An estimated crowd of 200 people attended the 3rd Factory Five
“Moochfest” this year. |
| |
|
Wareham, MA:
Fast becoming a tradition the Factory Five winter Open House AKA
“Moochfest” was a big success again this year. Many snow-suffering New
Englanders (and a few who traveled from a bit farther) got a close-up look
at our new cars and products, and had a chance to catch up with friends,
old and new. |
| |
 |
 |
|
The usual suspects… Joe Leone, Rick LaCourse, and Bill Blackwood
(left to right). The plant was lined with new cars and demo areas
to showcase our current work and products.
|
|
| |
|
Owing to the
large crowds we tossed out the pizza idea that has been the main-stay of
the past three years and switched to platters of Subway sandwiches with
all the trimmings. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
The party got underway at
9:00 am with food being served at 12:00 noon. Each area of the plant was
set-up to give people a good look at the operations, R&D and the cars. In
the back building Jerry from composite molding gave people demonstrations
of the CNC trimming robot, running the robot thru a composite panel
trimming demo. The chassis assembly area was set-up for customers to see
how the frames arrive and get bodies and aluminum fastened. The R&D area
was open for viewing but not for walk-thru traffic. |

 |
|
The FFR snow tire proving team arrived in force… Three FFR Mk2
roadsters and a Coupe! |
|
| |
|
There were more than 10
FFR cars on display, with two Coupes, a slew of challenge cars, a Spyder
and a gaggle of Mk2 and Mk3 roadsters. The FFR cars were joined by some
brave customers who brought their cars in the face of one of the most
bitter winters on record here in New England. Those who brought their
cars were eligible for a drawing to win a $500 gift certificate. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
The
Moochfest was a good chance for a lot of people to get a look at the two new
Mk3 cars that we have in house. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Eight customers decided
to pick up their kits this weekend, so Nate and his crew were busy loading
trailers and clearing the shipping area before the party got underway.
We originally wanted to avoid the traffic of pick-ups during the party,
but exceptions seemed the rule… |

The revised GTM prototype body shape was unveiled with some fun
ceremony. |
|
| |
|
One of the fun items was
the unveiling of the latest revision of the GTM supercar shape. With
people gathered around the car at 11:00 am we pulled the covers off to see
what people think. We really found the feedback from our customers
helpful. Check out the latest designs on this car that is due out this
summer! |
| |
|
|
| |
|
After lunch
we ended the event by giving away about 50 door prizes with raffle
tickets. The prizes included T-shirts, decals and hats as well as tool
sets, battery jumper kits and gift certificates from $50 to $500! Mathew
Dougherty (son of FFR’s own Mark Dougherty), and the kids of FFR customers
helped draw the winning tickets. |
| |
|
|
| |
|
Special thanks to the
customers who have helped make this event the fun and special day that it
is. We plan on keeping the Moochfest tradition alive and strong thru the
years.
