2004 Nationals News
Sneak-peak video from Brian Cates, courtesy of Cates Engineering

Left: East Coast show winner Rick Lacourse drove straight from NH to get to the show on time.  Right: The Challenge car field was bigger and better than ever!

The 2004 Factory Five Nationals are a memory (a great one!).  The event was a huge success and we’re compiling a full length feature story with photos and video downloads as you read this.  FFR Customer Brian Cates was racing in the National Championship race for the Challenge Series and sent us this awesome video of the exhibition race on Saturday.  We figured it would make a good teaser for our Nationals story.  If you were thinking about getting into the racing series this video will help you along the way.

The action in the car show and parade laps was just as fun and exciting as the pure racing action on the track.  There were 89 Factory Five street cars in the parade laps.

Whitbty Motorcars showed up with a BEEEEUtiful Coupe (sold).  The FFR-Roush Coupe was the official pace car for the race and the parade laps (you have to smile when you see a car like this as your “parade laps” pace car ahem).

Ask anyone who was in the parade laps about them.  They were technically called parade laps, but we wonder about the average speeds….

Stay tuned for full event report with photos and race results.

Special thanks to Brian for his clip and congrats to him on his UNBELIEVABLE second place finish!  By the way the only guy faster at the Nationals was pro driver Brian Cunningham.  Yes that is the grandson of Briggs.
