New England FFROG

Septemberfest 2003

The New England FFROG group knows how to have fun.  Led by local wildman, Gary Cheney (fact5racer), the group is always finding ways to create zany, off beat events and entertainment for their following.  These were the goals around which the Septemberfest was created.

This second annual event was established to round-out the short regional driving season, the Septemberfest's only real purpose was to get the group together one last time for a few hearty laughs and a good road trip.  Although born as a fun event by founders Jamie Turcotte (snowjoker) and Todd Buttrick, the fest also has altruistic goals of supporting the Team Jillian Fund, in memory of Todd's wife, and to assist in the battle against cancers of any kind.

Along with one of the funniest rally/scavenger hunts you'll ever attend (including collection of pooper scooper bags), the FFROGs had the chance to feast on bratwurst, burgers, and (root)beer.  After everyone was well fed, the first ever blind autocross was held.

Last year's ring toss was a big hit, but the blindfolded driving test had us all a little nervous (we don't like lawyers any more than you do, so we don't usually want to give them any opportunities to visit our friendly confines).  Although the autocross was really no more than a slow, rolling chicane, it was something both sides of the car could be involved in.

What will Gary, Jamie, and Todd have in store for next year's event?  We can not say, but we can promise a great event, great friends, and awesome food.  Make plans now to attend Septemberfest '04 (and bring a co-pilot, you'll need one).
