Boston, MA January
9–11, 2004
The crew from Factory Five Racing, along with
some local FFROG fanatic customers took the 2004 Boston World of Wheels
show by storm. The three
day weekend show that ran from Friday Jan 9th to Sunday Jan
11th showcased the hottest show and street cars, custom hot
rods and everything in between. |

of the more than 500 vehicles on display at the 2004 Boston
World of Wheels. |
|
|
| The team from Factory
Five brought a MkIII rolling chassis, and the FFR-Roush Coupe.
FFR crew were joined by customers Rick LaCourse, Joe Leone and
Chris Richards. |
|
 |
 |
| Rick
and his beautiful family were in attendance throughout the
entire weekend. Rick won 3rd Place with his red rocket! |
|
|
|
Rick brought along his deep
cherry red and white Mk I roadster that showed a tick over
24,000 miles on the odometer!
Rick drives his car three seasons a year in New Hampshire
and is well known on the internet forums for helping folks with
their builds.
Rick's car was sporting a 289 with dual quads and
an AUTOMATIC transmission!
Rick's family worked the show as well, proving that these
cars are really family efforts.
Also proving to the rest of us that Rick married well. |
 |
|
|
| Joe Leone brought
along his carbon fiber bodied, heavily modified and personalized
metallic silver and black street car.
Joe’s carbon fiber hood scoop and AWESOME 18” custom wheels
were real standouts. Joe’s
car has won several car shows and is one of the most custom FFR’s out
there. Joe is currently in
the process of ordering an FFR Type 65 Coupe to complement his roadster! |
|
 |
 |
| Joe
Leone displayed his carbon fiber bodied roadster with a long
list of custom features including a well truned out carbon fiber
hood scoop. We were surprised when we learned that Joe
earned 4th place, since we thought he would win. |
|
|
| Factory Five customer
and builder, Chris Richards, showed up with a beautiful vintage silver
roadster with classic gauges and Halibrand style wheels. The car was sold two days before the show but the new owner
agreed to let the world check out his new ride as a condition of the
sale. |

showed this silver beauty (sold!) |

Chris Richards, and FFR's Mark Weber. |
|
|
| Another Factory Five
was on display during the three day show.
It was a dark blue roadster that was on display in the next
building over. We
couldn’t track down the name of the owner but if someone comes forward
with it, we’ll send them a free t-shirt. |

| The
deep blue mystery roadster from FFR customer unknown... Nicely
turned out no doubt... and an automatic! |

|
The
crowds thinned a bit Saturday evening as the Patriots were playing in
Foxboro against the Tennessee Titans for the chance to get within a
single game of the Super bowl. Outside
the Bayside Exhibition center, the near zero degree weather stayed
around all weekend, but did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the
crowds looking to check out the coolest cars around and maybe get a jump
start on summer car projects.
World of Wheels attracted more that 250,000
people from the New England area despite the frigid weather and the mid
weekend Patriots playoff game. The
show marks the turning point in winter (halfway point really) and gets
all us frozen-in gearheads thinking about warmer days to come and what
projects will be filling our garages this summer. |

|
The FFR Type 65 Coupe
(Roush project car) really was a show stopper. The car earned 1st
Place. |
|
|
The
FFR-Roush Coupe really stood out from the crowd. When the trophies were handed out on Sunday the car had won
Best of Show in the Hand-built and custom car class (which included the
very best and most expensive cars in the show).
The doors closed on the 2004 World of Wheels show
on a high note. The 1st
Place win of the FFR-Roush Coupe made a great weekend even better.
This was our 6th World of Wheels Show in Boston and
the best yet. Hope to see
your there next year! |
