Austin Hot Rod show awards FFR 5048 top honors

Richard Bassemir’s Mk2 shines in January show

It’s taken us a while to catch up to this one, but we wanted to highlight Richard Bassemir’s award-winning weekend at the Austin Hot Rod Show this past January.

Richard’s car (FFR 5048) is one of the nicest builds we’ve seen over the years, so it was not a complete shock to hear that it took a First Place Overall award and also was recognized with a Street Achievement award at the same event.

What’s even more remarkable is that this Mark2 has been built the old-fashioned way – using everything from a stock 1988 donor Mustang.

According to Richard:

I did not have a budget that let me go crazy. I wanted a good looking "driver" and did not plan on doing any racing.  But who knows, I did not plan on showing the car either.

I did put in the rear coil-overs, new radiator and the Auto-Meter gauges.
One does not have to go plum crazy with features with the FFR kit to have a lot of fun with them.
