Bob is 6’2” 250lbs, and typically his first question would be “am I
going to fit in this car comfortably?” but this was the least of his
concerns. Bob is paralyzed from his mid chest down and this made
his build a little different. This did not discourage him; instead
he built his roadster using hand controls with a traditional rod for
the brake and a motorcycle hand throttle. He placed his driver side
seat on a rotating lift for ease in and out of the car.
This was a first here at Factory Five: a pin dive, IRS, Mk2 with
hand controls and a rotating driver seat, quite remarkable to say
the least. Bob didn’t put any limitations on himself or his
abilities and took a chance. His roadster is now complete and has
roughly 2000 miles on it. He’s been having a blast driving his car
and hopes next to build one for his 11 year old son, or maybe build
the new 33 Hot Rod. |
