Factory Five Racing Survives the Twenty Five Hours at Thunderhill

Two Challenge Cars and a GTM attend endurance race in Willows, CA

The longest endurance race in North America, 25 hour of Thunderhill brings a large collection of top notch racing teams and names to Thunderhill Park in Willows, CA.   This year was no exception and Factory Five was represented by some serious competitors.

Racing 4 A Reason 1 and Racing for A Reason 2 Teams were led by Karen Salvaggio and Ed Boothman.  Both teams drove Factory Five Racing Challenge Cars with  225hp 5.0L engines, which abided by NASA regulations. Diving the Challenge Cars were Karen Salvaggio, Ed Boothman, Mike Plum, Rick Anderson, John George, Jim Schenck, Brain Sanders, Scott Mckay and Championship Winning Racer Randy Pobst.

The two teams were supported by Andy Salvaggio who acted as Crew Chief along side of Andy Cole and Mark Dougherty who were Co-crew chiefs.  All three helped prepare the cars for the race as well as keep communication with the drivers while they were on the track.

Prototype Development was the third team at Thunderhill with a Factory Five.  Led by Richard Migliori, they drove a 425 hp LS1 powered GTM around the track.

With a total of 72 entries, 19 in the GTM Class (ES) and 18 in the Challenge Car Class (EO), all three teams did a great job and the cars were still running in excellent condition at the end of the 25 hours.  The GTM finished second in its class (ES) and 11th overall.  Racing 4 A Reason 2 finished 11th in the EO class and Racing 4 A Reason 1 finished 12th overall.

Congrats to everyone involved in the project, it took a great deal of time and preparation to do what the teams did at 25 Hours of Thunderhill.  The cars and the drivers all survived the grueling twenty five hours of non stop racing and traveled over 800 miles each during the duration of the race!
