SEMA Show News Tuesday SEMA report |
|
| As the show opened up at 9:00 am and people began to stream in, it seemed that the economy hadn’t affected the SEMA show. Crowds this year were as big or bigger than ever, the number and sheer variety of cars and exhibitors is mind-numbing and the new ideas and products are everywhere. | |
|
Thru out the day FFR customers from all over the country began arriving in force. Preston and Arlene Kunda came in from Georgia to check out the blue Ford 33 Hot Rod. This car maybe auctioned at the 2010 Barrett Jackson with proceeds going to the Miranda Faith foundation. |

| Longstanding community members Russ Thompson and Len Hintergaard arrived to help preach the message to the new guys. They both worked the booth as did Don DePonte, Steve Moriarty (Kermit) and ex-FFR engineer Chris Coleman (who now lives in So Cal). | |

East coast FFR mainstays Brian Dinsmore and Bob Kay made the trek and added their knowledge to the Factory Five crew who spent the day showing literally hundreds of folks the FFR line-up.
Factory Five women were well represented on this first day. Meredith Kay from purchasing and Deven Robitaille from Marketing were present and spent this first day on their feet without a single break. |
|
| Some of the highlights of this first day were the result of superhuman efforts. Langley Kersenboom and his team, along with the fanatical and talented work of Jeff “Da Bat” Miller pulled off the impossible, building a finished, running '33 Hot Rod convertible (it shipped 6 weeks earlier!) powered by HYDROGEN. Their car was in the Green Products category and saw crowds all day. The accomplishment cannot be overstated. |

The ever-present Cheney brought his GTM that was shown to the world last week at FFR’s SEMA unveiling event . The car was displayed at the iForged booth and was literally swarmed all day by admirers. The gold paint showed nicely under the strong SEMA show lighting.. |

SoFast’s Farra Snook stole the show with his World Record breaking Type 65 Coupe. The car was across the aisle from some very nice continuation cars that simply looked meek compared to the heart-attack serious Coupe fresh from the salt flats and history, replete with parachutes, full cage, and 100+ dB at idle!
The day did not end at 5 after the show. The guys from Pacific Dualies, Bobby, Neil, and Alan from, bought our crew dinner as the first day of SEMA 2008 came to a close. We all got the chance to try some new food including Chicken feet (well only Nate Johnson and Jason Lavigne were brave enough to try them) and jelly fish while spending time with some good company. More reports to follow.
