2nd annual Moment of Thunder tribute

Join us for a fitting tribute to Dick Smith

Last April, we lost a racing legend, an American hero and a good friend when Dick Smith died tragically in a plane crash.  Since Dick meant so much to us and to so many people, we wanted to create a tribute that would work for everyone across the nation.

In preparation for the 2007 California Cruise-in we came up with the idea of a Moment of Thunder tribute to let Dick know that we miss him.  We knew that even up in heaven he couldn’t miss hearing over a hundred V8’s roaring to life.

We can’t imagine that the winningest Cobra driver of all time and owner and racer of CSX 3035 would want anything less than to take our cars, and put them to use as they were intended.  Last year, his widow, Heather, and his famous #198 Cobra even started the frenzy off for everyone.  Both will be back this year to get things started.

Several customers in other parts of the country also joined in on the tribute, and initiated their own local Moments of Thunder tributes.

This year, with even more FFROGs in attendance at Huntington Beach, we expect the tribute to be monumental.

We also hope to spread it even farther this year and to host the first annual global Moment of Thunder.

Here’s your chance to join in on the tribute.

On Saturday, April 26th, at exactly 3:00pm PST, we will launch a chorus of hi-octane angels toward the heavens.  That’s 4:00pm (MST) for the folks in the mountain states down to the deserts of Arizona.  Similarly, at precisely 5:00pm (CST) pistons start pumping in the Midwest and points south to Texas, while New Englanders and folks down the Eastern Seaboard will delay supper for a few minutes for their tribute at 6:00pm EST sharp.

FFROGs in Germany and central Europe will fire up their rides at the stroke of midnight Saturday night, while down under in Sydney, Factory Five enthusiasts are waking up the neighbors for their tribute at 8:00am on Sunday the 27th.

Please make plans now to join our Moment of Thunder for Dick Smith, wherever you are, at exactly 3:00pm (PST).

After your local tribute, please send us your still and video footage to add to a collection for future distribution.
