Factory Five/Snap-On/Logano Mk4-R Build!

This week, we filmed a new episode of Snap-On Tools series “From the Ground Up.” If you saw the season finale of “Fast N’ Loud,” you saw our Gen 3 Type 65 Coupe-R at speed driven by NASCAR’s Joey Logano against Kurt Busch in a Gas Monkey prepared Pantera. The show was a big success, so we decided to build a twin sister to the Coupe in the form of a Mk4-R Challenge Car.

From bare frame to 150 MPH in three days! Joey Logano thrashes red #22 on day four!

Joey signed a panel from his race car complete with tire marks and dirt from a race at Martinsville for the guys here at Factory Five.

The Factory Five crew, which included Chris Ronni, Jim Schenck, Pat Fitzhugh, and Tony Zullo, built the Mk4-R (above right) in three days at Logano’s garage! The car was then thoroughly flogged on the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course for the show.

Signed panel from Logano’s #22 NASCAR.

Above & Below: The evil twins were unloaded this morning from Charlotte.

Factory Five President Dave Smith took the newly built race car for a few parking lot laps/shakedown.

The Snap-On Tools show will come out great, and everyone was impressed that the car could be built from a bare frame to a completed track-ready race car in three days. The episode airs in a few weeks, and we will let you know when it is available to watch.

The car spent the first 90 minutes of its life at speed and at redline on the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course and high bank with Joey Logano at the wheel.

As soon as the car arrived, Jim and Jon spent the afternoon cleaning it and chasing small details. The car will be at SEMA 2018.

Stay tuned to our website as we’ll let you know when the episode of Snap-On’s “From the Ground Up” is posted on their YouTube Channel.
