2017 Edelbrock Car Show Report

The 12th annual Edelbrock Car Show was held last Saturday, May 6th at Edelbrock’s headquarters in Torrance, CA and it was a great show! I have to admit that back-to-back weekend trips to L.A. wasn’t easy, but the show was worthwhile and it was the first time we attended. Here are some photos from the event.


Our truck driver Scotty “Honey Badger” Bell details the all-steel ’33 Hot Rod at set-up first thing in the morning.


There were over 350 cars at the event and the Factory Fives got more than their share of attention. The weather was actually rainy in the morning and that may have kept some people away, but by noon, the sun had come out and it was a great show day.


Almost everyone at Factory Five was committed elsewhere, so I went to the well and asked for help from some Factory Five customers. Frank Maslowski joined me and the Badger working the booth.

Above & Below: It is Hollywood so seeing Vin Diesel’s 1969 HEMI Charger from “The Fast and the Furious” movies makes a lot of sense. The car was actually very cool in person.


Above: The Factory Five truck was parked directly in front of the main entrance to the Edelbrock building (below). We brought along our half-mobile Mk4 Roadster, Snap-On Gen 3 Type 65 Coupe-R, Edelbrock 800+ HP Mk4 Roadster, and the all-steel body ’33 Hot Rod.


The Edelbrock car show attracts mostly muscle cars and hot rods.


There were a TON of vintage and modern Mustangs.


I have a black ’56 Chevy and I thought these flames were really well-executed in a barely fading yellow.


Despite threatening skies, the crowds were pretty heavy. As soon as the sun came out, it seemed like the crowds doubled.


Everyone’s favorite SoCal painter Jeff “Da Bat” Miller came out to help us in the booth. I can’t say enough good things about Jeff as he has helped hundreds of Factory Five customers with high-end paint jobs.


Above: The Coupe continues to be a huge hit everywhere it goes. The solid red (non-metallic) painted Mk4 Roadster with Edelbrock’s latest supercharger package was the PERFECT compliment to the nasty R-Coupe.


One of the best things we ever did was to build the half mobile. This car is a fully-driving and functional Mk4 Roadster with the exception of half of the body so customers can see the mechanicals.


Edelbrock’s Danny Castille and his wife LOVED the fitment and performance potential of their latest supercharged Coyote in the Factory Five Mk4 Roadster.


We loaded up and headed home at the end of the day. Two exciting weeks in California and we had so much fun between Huntington Beach and Edelbrock’s show. The Badger is due back on Thursday and I can’t wait to come back next year.

Rob M. Reaches First Start Milestone!

There’s many milestones when building a Factory Five including getting the kit in your garage, making it a roller, engine install, and of course, graduating the build. Charles M. is Show Favorite with ’33 Hot Rod

Charles M. from Lakeland, FL purchased a built Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod in February 2026. This Hot Rod was built by a company in California that builds cars for movies and TV shows. It was sold at auction with the proceeds being donated to a charity. The auction winner then sold the car to Charles with 594 miles on it. Charles brought the Hot Rod to the 21st Annual Bay Life Car Show the other week which saw 675 cars attend.
