818R: Race Car to Rock Star!

A while back, customer Ron Ewerth and his sleek black 818R was featured in an issue of S3 Magazine. Ron has been racing his 818R and getting some great attention. Ron reports that he has been racing with Maxxis tires on and off since 2006 in his drifting program. Since he already has a relationship with them, Maxxis reached out to his in regards to a commercial shoot. Ron brought out his racing rig and two cars, one of which is his Factory Five for a fun commercial.

Ron recently hooked up with Wayne Presley at Very Cool Parts at a track day and Wayne helped him with the chassis set-up and getting the car running faster. You may recognize Wayne’s name as he drove our Factory Five demo 818R to a sub-2 minute Top 10 finish at this year’s Ultimate Track Car Challenge. Check out some pictures of Ron’s car and this killer video.

Ron is hoping to get some changes made to the car in time for the GridLife time attack event coming up August 27th at Road Atlanta.

Some of these upgrades include:

6 speed with LSD
Exedy carbon triple disc clutch
DriveShaft Shop axles
EFR 7163 twin scroll turbo
1300cc injectors
Radium fuel surge tank
Wilwood brake kit
Element Tuning dry sump system

Ron runs his own shop, Vision Performance, and operates a drift driving school. He hopes to build a few of these for some customers.
