Customer Dan Hall’s Mk2 Roadster

Customer Dan Hall competed and won the drag racing portion of his event at Holley Ford Festival in Bowling Green, KY. He entered The Grand Champion competition which consists of two days of Autocross, 6 runs down the quarter mile drag strip and 3S challenge on Sunday. All three events have to be run on 200 tread-wear or harder tires. He ran 10.856 seconds at 126 mph in the drag racing portion and ended up winning that portion of the event.

Dan’s car “is a MK2 that I got in ’03 and put on the road in ’07. It’s has a 3-link rear suspension, pin drive width front control arms, narrowed 8.8 in the rear, and KONI coil-overs on all four corners. The motor is a Craft Performance built 351W with Brodix heads and a Vortech Si-trim Supercharger. It’s backed up by a TKO 600 and a McLeod RST clutch. It makes 514 HP at the wheels. She is painted Tangerine Pearl with Stone White stripes, and the paint and bodywork was done by myself and one of my oldest friends, Ron Charter.

When I first built the car it was a trailer queen used for primarily for shows. It’s been in The Chicago World of Wheels twice, won the Best of Show at the NMRA/ NMCA superbowl in Joliet and other “Best of” and “Peoples Choice” awards throughout the years. It was even on display at the Chicago International Auto Show.

After I met Craig Watkins and Sten Johnson at an Ohio Cobra Show, they made me realize it was way more fun to drive it than to sit behind it at a car show. So now it’s used to drive to shows from my home in Central, IL. I have also driven it to the Texas Cobra Show, and done Hot Rod Power Tour Long Hauls with it along with various other cruising events. I occasionally take it to test and tune nights at my local drag strip and a few auto crosses when I can.

The next plans are to upgrade the Factory Ford EEC-IV engine management to a Holley Terminator setup and jump up to 18” wheels to get wider tires under her.”

Congratulations Dan! We look forward to seeing more of your successes and adventures with your Roadster.
