Factory Five Heroes

Factory Five Customers Step Up to Help Kids with Cystic Fibrosis

Over the years, Factory Five customers have donated a tremendous amount of money, and more importantly, time and energy towards kids with Cystic Fibrosis. Many of you may know that my daughter Jennifer, who is now 12 years old, has CF and our family has been helping her with this disease since she was born.
I really am remiss in not giving as much public recognition as is owed to all the guys who have helped kids like Jenny through donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There is absolutely no way I could cover each person and recognize each effort sufficiently.

Here is a snapshot of a few Factory Five heroes from just the last month.

Every year for almost 10 years, the guys at Whitby Motorcars have held a Christmas party fundraiser for kids with Cystic Fibrosis. This year at the Charlotte Autofair, Jeff Collins pulled me aside and gave me checks totaling $1,165 raised by his customers and Factory Five guys. Thanks Jeff and thanks to all the Mid-Atlantic FFR owners.

Factory Five Customer Chris Canning from Australia Sends Jenny a New Friend – Keith the Koala

Jenny is now 12 years old and is doing well. She was hospitalized earlier this year with a nasty infection, but is fighting her disease with a good attitude. It helps when customers like Chris Canning send along surprises like this stuffed koala bear that was shipped all the way from down under. Chris has built several Factory Fives and is soon to be our recognized distributor in Australia.

Factory Five Customer Bill Knor from Illinois Surprises Two Kids with CF with a Special Gift

Customer Bill Knor sent two checks to kids with CF. Factory Five’s Meredith Kay above.

I met customer Bill Knor here at Factory Five when he was picking up his Mk4 Anniversary Car. Bill is a guy who seems a little gruff on the outside, but as it turns out, has a heart of pure gold. Bill asked me if there was something he could do for kids with Cystic Fibrosis like my daughter. He didn’t want to donate to some large foundation, but rather asked me if I knew of any special kids who he could give a special gift to. I gave Bill the names of two kids that I knew who were having a tough time. Bill sent a $500 check directly to 6 year old Eli Rodgers and 12 year old Bleu Scott. Both kids have Cystic Fibrosis and both kids got the chance to spend $500 the fun way (unless their parents made them put it in their savings account).

12 year old Bleu Scott had an opportunity to meet her hero Bethany Hamilton, whose story was made into a movie, “Soul Surfer”.

Don’t forget this year’s London C-Car Show, which benefits The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I’m looking forward to being at the event this year and if Jenny’s healthy, she’ll be joining me.
