Speed Channel debuts an all-new show called Speedmakers. Produced by Michael Hoff productions, the same guys who brought your Ultimate Factories and Megastructures, this episode focuses on Factory Five customers who build and race their cars.

“Episode 2: MEGA Kits

Can’t afford a $1,200,000 Ferrari Enzo, a 25 million Learjet or a radical speedboat or exotic watercraft? Well, if you’re handy with tools, and have a modest nutshell stashed away, you may be in luck! For a fraction of the cost of those “if you gotta ask you can’t afford it” dream toys, you can build your own dream machine. Thanks to the wonderful world of kits, if it’s worth lusting after, chances are it’s available as a “build-it-yourself.” Factory Five says “Forget Ferrari!” They help you build a world-class supercar in your garage with their custom kits. Want to live out your “TOP GUN” fantasy? With $500,000 and the ViperJet MKII kit, you can build your own personal “fighter jet.” If you dig the idea of catching BIG air, then get a load of the $85,000 Universal Hovercraft UH-19XRW Hoverwing. This ground-effect amphibious vehicle (AKA hovercraft) flies two to six feet above the water. And you won’t even need a pilot’s license!” – SpeedTV.com

These guys were here at Factory Five last fall and we did some really fun performance driving videos with them with the GTM and the Mk4 Roadster. Should be a fun episode. The schedule is 9 PM for Top Fuel Dragsters and 10 PM for Megakits (that’s us!). You can log onto the Speed Channel’s website and vote for which episode you want to watch (hint: vote for Mega Kits).

We’ve done some pretty fun broadcast shows in the last year or so. If you can’t wait until Thursday, here’s a link to the latest of episode of HorsePower TV featuring the Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod Coyote engine install. You can watch the whole episode online.

Mark S. Graduates His Mk4 & Scores Magazine Cover!

Congratulations to customer Mark S. on graduating his Mk4 Roadster build! Mark came for a tour of Factory Five in March 2020 to meet Dave Smith and the team. After returning home to the United Kingdom, Mark ordered his Mk4, and it arrived at his garage in February 2021.  Marks good friend, neighbor, and fellow car enthusiast, Stuart H, helpedwith the build which featured a Gen 3 5.0L Coyote, Tremec TKO transmission, 8.8″ solid axle with 3-link rear suspension, 18″ Halibrand wheels, and of course, it had to be in right hand drive. Mark also had the chassis galvanised to…

Factory Five is Closed Today, Monday January 26, 2026.

I made the call to scrub FFR operations for the day. The drive in wasn’t bad, and most roads are clear. Unfortunately our plow crew was late, and the day dawned with 3-4′ drifts in the back parking lot! We will be at work and at full strength tomorrow. Sorry for any difficulties this may cause. Three Generations Embark on a Type 65 Coupe Dream Build

Dave Ryan’s Type 65 Coupe build is moving right along—and it’s become something even bigger along the way. In collaboration with Factory Five Racing, V6 Media is producing a short film documenting the build process. Recently, Dave’s father, Vaun Ryan, sat down to share his lifelong passion for performance cars and motorcycles—sparked as a young boy on the family farm in Utah, building a homemade go-kart powered by a hay-elevator motor. That curiosity for how things work turned into a lifetime of mechanical enthusiasm, passed down through generations and now culminating in Dave’s Type 65 Coupe build, which is a…
