Kie H. Hits Two Big Milestones During his Mk4 Build!
Our customers always make our day when they send a message sharing their build progress, their stories, and how much they are enjoying their Factory Five projects. Customer Kie H. from North Ogden, UT started his build a little over a year ago, and has shared news of some exciting milestones he has recently reached. Read his story below.

“It’s been a total dream to own one even as early as high school in the 1970’s,” wrote Kie. “And to be honest life just seemed to get in the way, family first then dreams. Well enough of that. When I saw one of your brochures in the early 90’s, my dream was renewed. It just took 30 years to get here. Remember: never give up on dreams, they really do come true.”
“I’m a retired heavy equipment operator. Big boy toys that I’ve loved running and fixing them. But always really wanted to build cars. In the 80s, I restored two trucks: a ’47 Ford and a ’77 Ford high boy that really got me excited about this project even if it is 35 plus years later.”

“On October 11, 2024, my dream was delivered. I was over the moon with excitement, and I sure found out how many gearheads lived in my neck of the woods when the delivery truck showed up. I planned on pacing my self over a 4 year time frame to really build the car I wanted, not over the top but show worthy while also very drivable and can show lots of muscle when needed. Well, retired people are busy with all the grandkids, and what better way to bond than to build a car?! My grandsons have helped me do most of the riveting, and all they wanted was pizza and root beer afterwards. My granddaughters can’t wait to put carpet in and put their touches on it. Everyone wants something to do, and it is getting done much faster than expected.”

“My wife finds all my parts I ask her for. I tell her what I need, she finds the highest quality at the best price. I guess that’s what accountants do… manage money and I’m OK with that.”
“We’ve installed a 408 stroker that has lots of torque, 500 peak horsepower at around 6,000 RPM. Some basic comforts we’re installing are heated seats, phone charger, pleather console, and door pockets. My wife says we don’t need a fancy interior, just all business.”

“I’m painting the Mk4 myself along with the expert help of my neighbor. He’s painted many classics that all look beautiful and have been in many of our local shows. The color will be brandywine red with light gray stripes ghosted in.”
“I can honestly say this has been one of the most difficult, but also one of the most rewarding educational things I have ever taken on. So many things I didn’t know yet, and so many are willing to help. It’s true built, not bought! Building this has made me realize it’s not about the car. It’s about the journey, friendships, and just all-around pride of accomplishment.”
“Thanks to my younger brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson, my neighbors, and of course my lovely wife. I’m still over the moon that I’m building one!”
Congratulations on your first start and go-kart, Kie! We’re so happy to hear how much fun you are having building your Mk4 Roadster. We look forward to seeing more progress updates, and ultimately, your graduation post.
