The Vagos Build a Roadster AND a Coupe!

We are Factory Five, and we live for stories like these. When we hear from customers like Alex and his father, it reminds us why we do what we do.

Alex reached out to us after he and his dad completed their first build, a beautiful Mk4 Roadster, which they started when Alex was just in high school. Their journey into the world of kit cars began with a passion for building things together, from RC planes to model cars. When Alex learned about kit cars and showed his dad Factory Five’s website, they knew they had found their next project.

Two years of hard work, countless hours in the garage, and a whole lot of bonding later, they unveiled their masterpiece: a Factory Five Mk4 Roadster. Fitted with a Gen 2 Coyote engine and a Boss 302 intake, this car wasn’t just a machine; it was a testament to their dedication and love for the craft.

But their story didn’t end there. Alex and his dad, fueled by their success with the first build, decided to take on another challenge. This time, they set their sights on the Type 65, a car that combines historical significance with timeless design.

With a Gen3 Coyote engine, IRS, and a T-56 mag, their latest creation is a work of art. Their hard work paid off when the Type 65 took first place in its class at the Cincinnati Cavalcade of Customs.

For us at Factory Five, seeing Alex and his dad’s journey from their first build to their most recent build success is what it’s all about. It’s about more than just building cars; it’s about building memories that last a lifetime. We couldn’t be prouder to be a part of it. Here’s to Alex, his dad, and the countless others who dare to dream and build. Cheers to the builders, the dreamers, and the ones who never stop believing in the power of a kit car and a little elbow grease.

Factory Five is Closed Today, Monday January 26, 2026.

I made the call to scrub FFR operations for the day. The drive in wasn’t bad, and most roads are clear. Unfortunately our plow crew was late, and the day dawned with 3-4′ drifts in the back parking lot! We will be at work and at full strength tomorrow. Sorry for any difficulties this may cause. Three Generations Embark on a Type 65 Coupe Dream Build

Dave Ryan’s Type 65 Coupe build is moving right along—and it’s become something even bigger along the way. In collaboration with Factory Five Racing, V6 Media is producing a short film documenting the build process. Recently, Dave’s father, Vaun Ryan, sat down to share his lifelong passion for performance cars and motorcycles—sparked as a young boy on the family farm in Utah, building a homemade go-kart powered by a hay-elevator motor. That curiosity for how things work turned into a lifetime of mechanical enthusiasm, passed down through generations and now culminating in Dave’s Type 65 Coupe build, which is a…
