Customer Tullio C.’s XTF Truck

Tullio C. turned his dream into reality with Factory Five’s XTF kit! He shares, “It took 10 months, but I was traveling a lot, working crazy hours, and still building out my shop. I’d estimate the whole build has under 300 hours, with at least 100 hours spent on the bodywork.

I wanted to let you all know that XTF #008 is up, running, and road-worthy. I started with a salvage-title truck and, as of today, have a reconstructed title and registration. In my state, the frame is not considered a major component, so as long as I kept the cab and powertrain, they didn’t care. The reconstructed title application also allows the vehicle to “resemble the OEM body.” Starting with a salvage truck worked out well for me because, aside from the radiators, everything that was damaged on the truck I bought for $17,000 at auction was going to be replaced anyway.

I’m not sure about other states, but if anyone has trouble with the process, they could bring it to Oregon, sell it to me, and I can handle the title and sell it back.

I also switched to 4:56:1 gears, which seem perfect with the 37” BFGs. I’m running MPT’s PR-X 93 tune on stock turbos, adding just under 100 hp over stock. The truck has plenty of power, runs great on the highway, and still gets 18 mpg. You could probably go deeper on the gears if needed, depending on your truck’s use.

Overall, I’m really happy with the build. There’s not a single noise from the suspension, and everything feels tight and solid. It handles as well as you’d expect for an off-road truck. It’s going to be my daily driver. As I mentioned earlier, my truck was a Limited with every option, and the lane-keeping system and adaptive cruise control worked perfectly on the test drive. I even made a mount for the radar, and that works just fine.

The truck looks incredible—it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor!”

Congrats, Tullio, on completing your dream truck build! Enjoy the drive, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for XTF #008!
