MK4 Roadster - FAQs
The process of evaluating whether or not this project is right for you is an important one and there are several places you can go to get accurate, truthful, and current answers to your questions.
You can also call us here at Factory Five at 508-291-3443 and speak to one of our guys in tech support. You can also log onto the internet and query thousands of Factory Five owners about their own builds and discover an entire community of helpful customers on The Factory Five Forum.
Here are a few questions we get every day here at Factory Five:
I am 6’5″. Will I fit in the Mk4 Roadster?
This is not always a simple yes or no answer because it depends on you set-up the car and how you’re proportioned. There are indeed 6’5″ Factory Five Roadster drivers, but to elaborate, here are some things to consider:
- Consider a different seat option than the standard Roadster seat so that you can sit lower and further back
- The Wilwood pedal box (which comes with the Complete Kit) is an excellent tool in optimizing pedal position and leg room
- Remember that the 4.6L and 5.0L Coyote engines require driver footbox aluminum that takes some space away from the width of the footbox. If you’re worried about foot room, consider a small block engine, for example.
- If in doubt, visit us or find a local owner on The Factory Five Forum who will let you sit in their car. Just remember that their car is set up for them and small changes like those suggested above can make a huge difference.
Will the new Ford 5.0L Coyote engine fit in the Mk4 engine bay?
Yes. The 5.0L Coyote engine will bolt directly into the 4.6L mounts, but at this point, it requires custom headers, 4.6L driver footbox aluminum, and an aftermarket oil pan. Click here for a list of parts suggested for the install.
Can I order a Factory Five Mk4 Roadster in a Right Hand Drive configuration?
The Mk4 Roadster is only available in a Left Hand Drive configuration. There have been several customers who have done the conversion to RHD, and you can click here for some tips and images on making the conversion.
How much does it cost to ship the Mk4?
There’s a couple of options. You can come pick-up the car here at the factory for free (except for any travel costs) or you can hire a shipping company to pick-up and deliver the car to your house for you. We recommend using Stewart Transport if you decide to have a company ship a kit for you. Their phone number is 888-737-4852.
