Factory Five Customer Bob W.’s Award-Winning ‘33 Hot Rod

I met Bob Warren last year at the Huntington Beach Cruise-In.  I immediately noticed his car.  It’s hard to miss the supercharger sticking out of the hood, the bright candy-apple red paint, and the aggressive stance.  Bob earned “Best in Show” and “Best Hot Rod” out of over 100 very well built Factory Fives.

I recently received an e-mail from Susie, Bob’s wife, with some more photos and a great back story to the car that I wanted to share.  It turns out that Bob has won quite a few awards and is as talented as he is modest.  Susie let me know that Bob did all of the work on the car himself except for the pinstriping and a few interior details.  The car was delivered the day after the 2013 Huntington Beach show and the car was finished exactly before last year’s 2014 show, exactly one year in the making.  Susie reports that the car only had six miles on it as they departed for the HB show and the car’s maiden voyage.  Since then, the car has racked up quite a few wins.  Here are the details.
