Project 818 Continues to Hit Targets!

818-KCB-Spread
The 818S makes the cover of Kit Car Builder Magazine with a full road test/eval, October 2013 issue on newsstands now.

dts818There’s plenty to report on Project 818 as the team continues to deliver on their targets, and the car has successfully transitioned from development to production. We have built and delivered 32 cars (818S models), and the month of August saw the 818R enter production with two chassis produced and shipped.

Our street car is now in Michigan at Rod Tops for soft top fitment (pricing and details to follow shortly), and the tech support team is busy building a right-hand drive (RHD) vehicle to debut at SEMA 2013.

Thanks to the crew at Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, Wayne Presley at Very Cool Parts, and some GREAT customers, we have been able to quickly address small production issues and incorporate improvements faster than we ever have. Thanks to our laser cutting machine and the fact that our engineers have made 818 engineering issues a top priority, this has been the smotthest new product introduction in the history of the company.

The 818 has taken its rightful place alongside our other world-class products, and the exciting stories are just getting written!

FFR Tech Support Builds Right Hand Drive 818 for SEMA

R&D engineering interns Frank Kardok and Rich Walz completed their summer internships this month, and tech support has been transitioned to our production tech support group.  The team is busy building a right-hand drive 818S for training purposes and as yet another QC of the assembly manual/instructions.  The RHD 818 will debut at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November.  The tech group is building chassis #28, and the attention to detail and competence of those involved has been unmatched.

Summer engineering interns Frank K. and Rich W. were invaluable to the 818 effort, providing excellent engineering work
and mechanical skills… that doesn’t mean they didn’t have to wash the cars.  Thanks for the great work, guys!

Brian and Steve L. Take Their 289 USRRC Replica to the Next Level

It’s always fun talking with customers about their build plans. Some customers are trying to do a period-correct build where others are trying to do more of a modern take on a classic. Some builds go as far as trying to recreate a specific race car, and Brian and Steve L. took it a step further by not only recreating a famous 289 driven by Allen Grant, but they also built the truck to along with it so they could recreate a photo of Allen Grant and Dave Friedman!
