Damon P. Graduates 30th Anniversary Mk5 #11 of 30
Congratulations to Factory Five customer Damon P. on graduating his Mk5 Roadster build! Like other recent Mk5 graduate, Doug S., Damon also built one of the Factory Five 30th Anniversary Special Edition Mk5 Roadster, #11 of 30. Damon received his Mk5 in June 2025, and built it with a BluePrint Engines 427 CID Stage 2 HO, Tremec TKO 600, Holley Sniper 2 EFI, Ansen tri-color valve covers, IRS, 18″ 30th Anniversary Bronze Halibrand Wheels, Holley returnless fuel system, Radium Engineering fuel dampening system and fuel pressure gauge power steering, power brakes, and bronze Anniversary chassis with almost all other bare metal parts powder coated to match.

Some of the other custom mods Damon made were installing an olive wood shift knob and details in the trunk, leather center console stitched to match the 30th Anniversary seats pattern, Marine Kicker stereo with 8″ speakers mounted between the seats, and Randy Apple Red 3 paint with Gunmetal stripes done by Spotlight Customs in Georgia.

“This vehicle was built by myself and my father-in-law, Kent,” wrote Damon. “Kent was my right hand man, assisting from start to finish on the build. At 79 years old, this was his first experience building a car and he enjoyed every minute of it! He is instrumental in caring for and detailing the car. My wife Stacy, a former interior designer, was pivotal in picking out the paint colors and upholstery options. I think she did a great job of tying in the 30th Anniversary bronze wheels with the Randy Apple Red paint.”

“The most interesting part of the build for me was trying to tie in a somewhat resto-mod look via things such as a carbon fiber dash with 18” Halibrand wheels,” wrote Damon, “while also adding some old school flair, such as the wood accents. I have tried to keep the car as uncluttered as possible, with minimalistic design features.”

“One of the biggest highlights was the mental vision of how I wanted the car to look upon its completion, and then seeing that vision come to fruition. As I mentioned earlier, I really wanted a somewhat modest resto-mod look, combined with the old school feel of a Roadster. I tried to pay homage to both a modern and vintage feel with this build, as I truly appreciate both styles. Coincidentally, this was also one of the most challenging aspects of the build – to ensure both styles meshed appropriately. After the car came back from paint, it was a sight to see!”

“I live in Mooresville, North Carolina, which is nicknamed “Race City USA”. We have car shows almost weekly during the summer months, and I plan I plan on attending numerous car shows with Kent, my father-in-law. Kent and I also frequently attend events by Lake Norman Car Guys here in Mooresville. We cannot wait to show off the car!”
