Dave V.’s Factory Five GTM

Tech team member, Dave V. proudly showcases his family’s completed GTM. The father-son project began after finding the 2007 GTM as an incomplete project in 2022. It was finalized by fall of 2023 after meticulous work.

“My dad is meticulous about details,” Dave shares. “He spent countless hours polishing the aluminum panels, valve covers, intake on the engine, and, of course, the wheels. Each wheel has a day’s worth of polishing, topped off with a new dark Factory Five logo. We invested significant time in finishing the wiring and tuning the engine.”

The engine is a far cry from stock. It’s a 5.7L LS1 equipped with a TrickFlow top end kit, cam, Weiand LS1 intake, BBK 80mm throttle body, and more. Paired with a Porsche G50/52 transaxle, the setup is expected to produce around 550 horsepower. “I collaborated with MailOrder Tuner to get a good running tune—it was my first foray into the world of modern EFI tuning! For now, we’re enjoying taking the car to shows, alongside my mom’s MK3, which recently won two awards at a local event. We’re already planning to build a 6.2L LS3 for even more horsepower!”
