From Track to Street: Ben F.’s Factory Five Challenge Car
For five years, Factory Five customer Ed Boothman and his team competed in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in a modified Challenge Car. After the 2012 event, the car was retired, and eventually sold by Ed.

It is now owned by Ben F. from New Hampshire who has shared the news that he has completed converting the 25 Hours Challenge Car into a street car.

“My father and I took the tour down at Factory Five in late 90s,” said Ben. “and “That cemented what I wanted to do: open a shop and work on old English vehicles.”

Ben took the Challenge Car completely apart, repainted the chassis and body, installed a new wiring harness, swapped the 40 gallon fuel cell for a 25 gallon one, swapped the solid axle for an independent one, and also took out the stroker motor to install a 351W based 635 HP 460 block with a Tremec TKX. He’s also installed new parts from Factory Five including the carbon fiber dash, new seats, and new gauges.

“I re-painted the body 2024 Ford Silver to match my truck, LOL!” said Ben. “It’s an ex-race car not a show car, and a lot of fun. Oh, and PS – I put the stroker motor that was in the Challenge Car in one of my Foxbodys.”

Thanks for sharing the update on this legendary Challenge Car, Ben! Glad you continue to work on and drive it!
