Hot Rod Magazine’s ’35 Pro Street Truck Build

Hot Rod Magazine’s Mark Gearhart is building a Factory Five ’35 Hot Rod Truck in the pages of the magazine AND on hotrod.com with hundreds of photos and some really great how-to videos. Here’s one of the first videos of the build which starts at the front suspension (upper and lower control arms, coil-over shocks, steering rack, upper steering column), includes pedal assembly, rear suspension with Moser 8.8″ rear end/brakes/wheels, and ends with the completed roller in front of his house ready for the next stage.

Mark’s crew starts on the front suspension lower tubular control arms.

KONI coil-over shocks are assembled as part of the in-board cantilever design.

Spindles connect upper and lower control arm, and Mustang hubs are bolted on.

The assembled front suspension awaits the steering rack install.

Rear suspension is a 3-link with two lower control arms and an upper trailing arm with KONI coil-over shocks.

Factory Five legend Jeff “Da Bat” Miller (left) and pro-builder Erik Hansen (second from left) join Mark Gearhart and John McGann for the cab body work, aluminum work, and to finish off the roller.

Pedal box and upper steering column go in (above), and brakes (below).

The crew installs the firewall, upper steering column, and tightens all fasteners to correct torque.

Wheels go on, and she’s a roller!

Someone forgot to bleed the brakes!

The video ends with a complete roller. Stay tuned for the upcoming segments in Hot Rod Magazine and on hotrod.com.
