US Army Ret. SSG Travis Mills Visits!

We were honored to host a very special visitor to Factory Five on Thursday, May 6th, 2021, Travis Mills. Travis is retired United States Army Staff Sergeant of the 82nd Airborne and a recalibrated warrior, motivational speaker, actor, author and an advocate for veterans and amputees. Travis’s New York Times bestselling memoir, Tough as They Come, is currently available on sale in bookstores everywhere. Despite losing portions of both arms and legs from an IED while on active duty in Afghanistan, Travis continues to overcome life’s challenges, breaking physical barriers and defying odds. Travis lives by his motto:

“Never give up. Never quit.”

The team at Factory Five took a half day to put down our tools and listen to Travis speak. We also recognized military veterans in attendance, and were able to have some special invited guests join us. Click above to watch the video.

Travis is motivational and also really hilarious. The section with Nate Johnson is one you won’t forget! Travis runs a summer camp for wounded veterans in Maine, and his foundation is called Travis Mills Foundation. Click here for more information.

Travis spoke for about 45 minutes, and then spent another few hours with the crew talking about his experiences, his specialized prosthetics, and his attitude which helps him overcome tremendous obstacles.

Despite his injuries, Travis is one of the funniest people you will ever meet! We have added The Travis Mills Foundation as one of Factory Five’s official charities which include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
