Tim B. and his Son’s Factory Five Type 65 Coupe

In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to forget the importance of spending quality time with loved ones. For Tim B. and his family, building a Factory Five car became the perfect opportunity to bond and create lasting memories.

Tim’s son, Tim Jr., shared their story:

“My father was always a fan of Factory Five and amazed by what Factory Five has been doing since the beginning. His first Factory Five build was in the early 2000s—a Factory Five AC Cobra with a mildly built small-block Ford, T5 transmission, and an 8.8 rear end. He loved that car, but his real dream was the Daytona Coupe. When Factory Five released the 3rd Gen Coupe with IRS, he knew he had to have one.”

In July 2021, Tim and his son received their Factory Five Gen 3 Type 65 Coupe. For the next three years, they worked side by side, squeezing in time between work and family.

“Whenever we had free time, we’d be out in the garage chipping away at the car,” Tim Jr. explained. “My father and I truly enjoyed building it together. It gave us so much quality time and so many great memories.”

Their shared passion for the project brought them closer than ever, even managing a few “go-kart” rides together as the car neared completion. Tragically, Tim Sr. passed away in May 2024, leaving the car almost finished but far from forgotten.

“By the time he passed, we didn’t have much work left—just prep and paint, the interior, and final details. I plan to finish the car in his honor, exactly as he envisioned: a dark black cherry paint with dark black ghost stripes,” Tim Jr. said. “I can’t thank Factory Five enough for providing us with the greatest father-and-son project ever. It gave us incredible quality time together and memories I’ll treasure forever.”

For Tim Jr., finishing the car is about more than honoring his father’s vision—it’s about preserving the connection they shared. Their Coupe includes an IRS setup, a carbureted SBF 337 Stroker, Tremec T5, 15” Halibrand wheels, Koni coil-overs, and heat/AC. It’s a testament to the power of shared dreams and determination.

If you’re wondering whether now is the right time to start your own build, let this story be your answer. Life is unpredictable, and waiting for the “perfect” moment often means missing the chance altogether. Tim Sr. and Jr. didn’t just build a car—they built memories, connection, and a legacy.
