Ben D.’s Factory Five Mk4 Roadster is powered by a Blueprint 347, with a stunning paint job by Michael Everson. After six years of dedication to the build, Ben officially “graduated” on Labor Day 2023. Now, with nearly 3,000 miles on the clock, he’s making the most of every drive.
Ben’s day began at 7:30 am, heading out to a Cars & Coffee event in LeClaire, Iowa, along the Mississippi River. During the build, Ben would regularly attend this event for reference photos, as it’s hosted by another Factory Five builder.
With an entire day ahead, Ben decided to take the scenic route home. He added a couple of hours to his drive, exploring backroads and small towns he had never been through before—a scouting trip for future fall drives with his wife.
After a quick stop at home, Ben set off again, this time for a car show in Kalona, Iowa, passing through Riverside, the fictional hometown of Star Trek’s Captain Kirk. The show introduced him to new cars and fresh faces, with locals eager to learn more about his build.
A day spent exploring new roads, meeting fellow car enthusiasts, and receiving thumbs-up from everyone along the way—it doesn’t get much better than that!
