Meet the World’s Fastest Factory Five Daytona Coupe!

Factory Five customer Mark Maybury, from just outside Bangor, Maine (a true Mainer!), has officially set a jaw-dropping land speed record of 230.671 mph in his Type 65 Coupe through the Loring Timing Association. That’s not just fast—it’s world-class fast—earning him the title of fastest Factory Five Coupe ever.

Mark’s car is the perfect example of what happens when creativity meets courage. Hand-built, meticulously tuned, and pushing over 800 HP to the absolute limit, his Coupe proves that Factory Five cars are Built, Not Bought®.

Mark’s journey started 22 years ago when he finished his Coupe and hit the road—driving to Carlisle, Factory Five’s Open House, and Moncton, NB year after year. He even took it to VIR for a car show. While he misses having it on the street, his passion shifted to the track, chasing speed records.

For 12 years, Mark and his crew of three skilled machinists (including one electrical wizard) have been dialing in the Coupe for the mile and a half without a single sponsor. They’re now on their 3rd motor, 5th transmission, and 2nd rear end, improving every single year. They’re currently running a Tremec TKO500 and an 8.8 IRS with 3.08 gears.

And they’re not done yet. Mark hinted at the future:

“We really like the looks of the Coupe R and would like to try making that go faster than the old Gen 1.”

Huge congratulations to Mark for showing the world what a Factory Five can do at full throttle.
