Mark S. Graduates His Mk4 & Scores Magazine Cover!

Congratulations to customer Mark S. on graduating his Mk4 Roadster build! Mark came for a tour of Factory Five in March 2020 to meet Dave Smith and the team. After returning home to the United Kingdom, Mark ordered his Mk4, and it arrived at his garage in February 2021.

Marks good friend, neighbor, and fellow car enthusiast, Stuart H, helpedwith the build which featured a Gen 3 5.0L Coyote, Tremec TKO transmission, 8.8″ solid axle with 3-link rear suspension, 18″ Halibrand wheels, and of course, it had to be in right hand drive. Mark also had the chassis galvanised to help the car manage the British weather before having it powdercoated.

Some of the other features on Mark’s car is having the chassis number stamped on the right hand side of frame to be next to the steering column (like we do on LHD frames), a reversing light which required a switch being fitted on the Tremec transmission, rear fog lights, and all lights that met the UK’s standards.

Mark had all of the aluminum panels powdercoated in satin black. They also fitted hard lines from the fuel tank all the way to the fuel regulator and return to the tank. This involved lots of crazy bends, twists, and turns, but they got it to fit.

Mark also installed sound deadening (dynamate and dyliner), seat tracks, oil relocation kit, Morosso expansion tank, and an air induction kit.

One of my favourite parts of the  the car is the dash board. This is in 427 SC layout and has been signed by Pete Brock.

The car passed its UK licensing test in its red gel coat in May 2024. Shortly after that, The car was then stripped down to get prepped for paint. The paint shop Mark used in the UK specializes in spraying classic F1 cars. The car is painted in Indigo Ink Pearl Blue with Wimbledon White stripes.

Soon after graduating his Roadster, Mark took his Mk4 for a photo shoot with Complete Car Builder Magazine. His car would be a featured article in the magazine as well as being on the cover! “It was a great way to finish off the build,” said Mark.

“This year I am taking the car to a number of Goodwood events, including the Revival which is an event designed around cars in the 1960s,” wrote Mark. “I am also booked to drive it down to The 24 Hours of LeMans in France in June.”
