A Family Legacy: The Abadi Family’s Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod

In Panama, the Abadi family has turned their passion for cars into a lasting family legacy, embodied by their beautiful Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod. This car has become far more than just a car—it’s a cherished family heirloom, lovingly built by Walter Abadi, his sons, and the entire family over the course of a year. Together, they put their time and effort into every detail, making the Hot Rod a part of their family history and milestones ahead.

The build, which began in April 2013 and became complete in August 2014, is powered by a Chevy V8 Fast Burn engine producing an impressive 385 horsepower, paired with a Tremec TKO-600 transmission. The sleek Arctic Silver Ice paint job, made possible by BASF RM-Carissma, gives the car an eye-catching finish.

Famously, the Abadi family enlisted legendary Jeff “DABAT” Miller to come to Panama twice to assist with the bodywork. Miller’s craftsmanship elevated the build to a new level, transforming their ’33 Hot Rod into a true work of art.

This Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod is woven into the fabric of the Abadi family and their most special moments. In 2017, Walter’s oldest son made the car a part of his wedding. Just recently, his second son Ernesto and his new wife Debbie did the same, using the car in their wedding photoshoot. The Hot Rod has become a symbol of family unity and the memories they’ve created together as a family.

Walter proudly calls it the “Greatest Family Project Ever,” and it’s easy to see why. Not only did the Abadi family come together to build a car, but they also forged memories that will last a lifetime, bonding over every twist of the wrench and page turned in the build manual. Their ’33 Hot Rod stands as a testament to their shared passion, and has been a true labor of love.

Congratulations to Ernesto and Debbie on their recent marriage! We are honored to share in the joy of your photoshoot with the Hot Rod that means so much to your family. The legacy of the Abadi family continues to grow, with their Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod as a symbol of their enduring connection and love for cars.

I made the call to scrub FFR operations for the day. The drive in wasn’t bad, and most roads are clear. Unfortunately our plow crew was late, and the day dawned with 3-4′ drifts in the back parking lot! We will be at work and at full strength tomorrow. Sorry for any difficulties this may cause. Three Generations Embark on a Type 65 Coupe Dream Build

Dave Ryan’s Type 65 Coupe build is moving right along—and it’s become something even bigger along the way. In collaboration with Factory Five Racing, V6 Media is producing a short film documenting the build process. Recently, Dave’s father, Vaun Ryan, sat down to share his lifelong passion for performance cars and motorcycles—sparked as a young boy on the family farm in Utah, building a homemade go-kart powered by a hay-elevator motor. That curiosity for how things work turned into a lifetime of mechanical enthusiasm, passed down through generations and now culminating in Dave’s Type 65 Coupe build, which is a…
