From Bucharest with Love!

Factory Fives are being built all around the world! Here’s a great story from Bucharest, Romania.

Factory Five Tudor Vicol called the Factory Five Build School in November of 2009 and reserved a place in the next class. Tudor is an automotive engineer, and he knew the FFR chassis was a great foundation to build a car from.

After completing the Build School, he drove to Wareham, MA (only 900 miles east!) and went on a factory tour. He originally wanted to build a Type 65 Coupe, but didn’t fit well and decided to build a Roadster. He ordered the complete kit since there aren’t many donor cars or parts in Romania, and his build started three months later.

Check out his photos and the video he did. The video is in Romanian, so it’s kind of fun to watch even if you don’t understand the language.

Tudor’s car is powered by a Ford Racing 302 small block with a 4 bbl Holly and Tremec T-5 transmission.  The rear end is 8.8″ solid axle with 3.55 gears.

Tudor wanted to keep the Roadster as a faithful replica so he opted for 15″ Halibrand wheels with white letter Goodyear Eagle GTII tires – 235/60 F and 295/50 R.

Tudor and his buddies built the car after work in his garage, and a friend of his who worked at BMW did the paint work in Titanium Silver (BMW color code 354) with six coats of clear!

The car is on the road and it looks great! Everyone at Factory Five is stoked to see our car tearing it up in Romania!
